Advancement tracking is one of TroopMaster's core functions. It handles ranks, merit badges, and special awards, and automatically enforces BSA advancement rules.
TroopMaster tracks:
Advancement rules are automatically updated when BSA changes requirements, so your records stay compliant without manual adjustments.
To record completed rank requirements for a scout:
TroopMaster will alert you if requirements are missing or if BSA rules are not yet met before recording a rank as complete.
Method 1: Individual entry
Method 2: Completed Merit Badges Dialog
TroopMaster's Best-Placement routine automatically sorts and places merit badges to follow advancement rules while choosing the arrangement that promotes the fastest rank advancement.
TroopMaster tracks partially-completed merit badges, showing which individual requirements have been signed off. This is useful for multi-session merit badge work or summer camp.
TroopMaster includes all standard BSA special awards (religious awards, National awards, etc.) and allows you to add:
To add a special award to a scout:
When multiple scouts earn the same award or complete the same requirement at the same event, use Group Credit to save time:
Group Credit can also be used for:
TroopMaster tracks all Eagle-required merit badges across ranks and shows whether a scout has met the Eagle merit badge requirements. The advancement record includes:
Note: Eagle Scout final approval is a council-level process that happens outside of TroopMaster. The Eagle application, Eagle project approval, and final Eagle Board of Review are managed through your council, not through TroopMaster. TroopMaster records the unit-side data (merit badges, leadership, BOR date) and generates the advancement upload file.
The 4403/Court of Honor report includes Eagle recognition. See Court of Honor and Internet Advancement 2.0 for how Eagle records are submitted to BSA.
After recording advancement in TroopMaster, upload it to BSA's Internet Advancement 2.0 to officially record awards and trigger certificate generation. See Internet Advancement 2.0 for step-by-step instructions.
